As you can see, Seth has no problem jumping in! :) (Oh - and yes, we cut the mohawk - waiting for his pretty shiny hair to grow back.) Our next door neighbors were kind enough to invite him over to splash around with their 2 boys and a few other neighborhood kiddos.  OH DID HE HAVE A BALL! He’s been so bored with us being so preoccupied with loading the truck and boxing up stuff… he’s been a trooper but he really needed this happy surprise today. (Doni - doesn’t this photo BEG to be a pop-out edit? I know he’s not perfectly clear - I just grabbed my little digital - but I still think it’s way fun and deserves a little extra attention later on.)

Our family is having to just JUMP IN all together now… We don’t even know for sure if we have a house to go to tomorrow (well, it’s 3am, so today, actually) :) but we have to be out of our current house anyway. There were some questions because someone else put in an application on the same house… so far the owners are leaning towards us, according to the property manager, but they could always change their minds. We’ll be ready if we get the word they picked us though - hopefully to sign a lease and get right into the house tomorrow night… if not, hopefully Friday. I hope we can avoid a hotel and just get the house! (Please Lord?) :)

Signing out for now… hj

Well, we made a verbal offer to rent a house at $100 lower than listed and the owners (via the property manager) accepted! Now we’ve got to get our application and fee to them ASAP to get the ball rolling. We’re guessing we won’t be in our house until Friday but we are HOPING HOPING HOPING for sooner than that. We’re likely to lose internet service tomorrow… so, no more updates for a bit. Goodness this has been SOME RIDE! I’m ready for it to slow down now. :)

Long story short - housting switched gears when Jas went to talk to them yesterday. We can stay in the house at least a few more days - maybe longer. We’re breathing easy today and considering returning the UHAUL truck and waiting until next week so we’d have more time to look at homes without a MAD RUSH. We’ll see… get through today without making a major decision. :)

Added thoughts: We were having a difficult time making sure we would be OUT by last night… well, when Jas told housing that he was being given a temporary id card for 90 days, they said we could stay in our house! What a relief! We were probably going to be up until wee hours of the morning trying to be out of the house… and we were running on little sleep and fumes. This reminds me of when we were in San Antonio… most of our household goods were gone and we got ’stuck’ in our rental house because of Jason’s broken arm/wrist from the attic staircase breaking out of the ceiling with him at the top of it - ON MOVING DAY! Uggh… At any rate, I’m very glad we can breathe easy without rushing to choose just any rental in order to get to some sort of house. Now we have a little more time considering Jas doesn’t start the academy until Sept 2.  PHEW! RELIEVED!

I would show you a picture of a Seth update, but don’t know where Jas put the camera… and I’m too tired to look for it. I’m gonna drink some more of this lovely latte’ I made (SO GLAD I DIDN’T LET THE MOVERS TAKE THE COFFEE-MAKIN’ STUFF!) and relax with Seth. Ah… breathing room… :)

Do you know that song? Gosh, I wish I knew ALL the words because I really wanted to sing it last week! “I feel charming, and disarming, it’s alarming how charming I FEEEEEEEL!” :) No, I’m NOT being vain. I actually don’t feel as pretty as the song speaks of. However, when you feel loved - and I do - :) you somehow feel more beautiful, more cherished, more valuable… pretty.

But let’s go back to the charming part of the song for a moment. :) One of Jason’s top love languages is giving gifts. It’s unfortunate that I’m not as good at getting him gifts (he has very expensive tastes for guns and knives :) ) as he is for me. Even so, we are often surprising one another with “Close your eyes.  Now hold out your hands… OPEN!” - with things as simple as a special blend of pepper for the pepper grinder (HE LOVES PEPPER!) or a special chocolate treat he might bring to me, or, of course, toys for Seth. We are big on that closed-eye surprise and gifts thing in this house - even if it is something small. AND we are always good about expressing our thanks. For the gift? Sure… but most of all because what it really adds up to is this: “I thought of you today. You are special to me. I want to spoil you with a little gift because… (drumroll please)… I love you.”

Last week was no exception. :) I told Jason where I wanted to go to lunch. It didn’t sound good to him but later he changed his mind. Well, we missed lunch hours as we started our day so late and they weren’t opening until dinner. SO we could not eat at one of our favorite places, Thaijindisu. (YUM!) But my ploy worked. :) :) :) That restaurant is just across the street from the paint your own pottery place where I had to pick up my teapot. (It had a chip and she was going to reglaze/fire it for me.) We were nearby so “I might as well just run in really quickly.” ;) What Jason didn’t know is that Seth had made a picture frame for him too. Jas has been saying how he wonders when HE is going to get SOMEthing because we’ve made things for a few other people. :) We FINALLY did it. Seth and I had silly grins on our faces as we went back to the truck to meet Jason (who was supposed to be waiting there for us). Sidenote - our intention is to put a picture of Seth with the doggies in the doggy frame - but as you can guess, being the process of moving, it hasn’t happened yet. Still, I think Seth is a GREAT little arteeeest! :) LOVE the eyebrows he added at the last minute. :)

Back to the story:

Hmmm… where could he be? I had a sneaking suspicion… yup, just a few doors down at another favorite place, Ignatius. LOVE THAT STORE! It’s the only place in town that sells Brighton. :) He had spied a beautiful jewelry set and was asking what I thought. :) Well, WHAT IS THERE TO SAY TO THAT? HA! We browsed around a while and then he asked, “Do you need something?” with a smile. He WANTED to spoil me. Boy was it fun to try on a few necklaces to see what he thought. THAT is a look on my husband’s face that I LOVE to see. I felt loved and in turn, “pretty.” He later said that it was such a rough day he was trying to add some things to make it happier. Lucky me. :) Well, he had his favorite thing and then out of the corner of my eye I caught a display where I’d not seen a set that we BOTH ended up LOVING. Jas REALLY wanted to get the matching bracelet but they didn’t have it in the store. (Aren’t you glad to know he intends to get it for me? I’m spoiled rotten! Aren’t I?) ;) Even so, I’m quite happy with the necklace and earrings… and the eye of my husband. :)

The lighting doesn’t do them justice - but HEY! I’m moving this week and shouldn’t be spending time typing this as it is. :)

I wish the earthy coloring showed up better - it really is rich looking. (Yup, Swarovsky crystals in there!)

The earrings are just right. :) I love the blend of sparkle with casual in so many of Brighton’s things. I have already worn these pieces with a sundress and could easily put them on with a top and jeans.

See why “I feel pretty…” was the song of the day? :)

You like this one? Just wait until I (finally) tell you about Mother’s Day. :)

Ok, ok - so you went through ALL OF THIS but what you really wanted to know is whether or not we’ve found a house yet! The short story - no. :) The long story - we’re not feeling peace yet so we’re just slowing ourselves down a bit. Fortunately Jas has some time before he has to start work and Uhaul gives us a free month of storage with our truck rental. Also, the AF will give us up to 180 days of storage for free with all the items the movers pick up. Explanation? We’re having the Air Force’s choice of movers take our biggest furniture pieces because it is just toooo much on Jason’s back. I’ll also have them pack all of our kitchen stuff (a job I don’t have an appreciation for anyway). We’ll do boxes that are easy to put on a dolly ourselves and any items that are valuable or have sentimental value to us. That way we know we won’t go over our allotted weight limit with the AF’s movers and we can have the things most important to us at our easy disposal. If we don’t choose a house before the weekend (which we HOPE to!), we can put the things in a Uhaul storage unit for up to a month for free. Hopefully, by next week, we’ll have made a choice. But in the meantime, we can stay in a hotel, put the dogs in a kennel (don’t tell them - they think it’s a pet resort) :) and BREATHE while we make our decision. IT’S BEEN CRAZY AROUND HERE!!!!!!!!!!
